Dr Judy FluryDr. Judy Flury is the owner of our school. Dr. Flury began her martial art training at the age of 12, and has been training for the past 25 years (she is currently a 5th degree black belt.) Once she started her Taekwondo training as a 12-year old, martial arts has remained Dr. Flury’s life-long passion!

In addition to the martial arts, Dr. Flury’s main focus is working with children. She has worked with children in various capacities for over 22 years now. In 1986, when Dr. Flury was a junior in high school, she combined her two loves of teaching children and performing Taekwondo, by opening the American Institute of Taekwondo and teaching Taekwondo to children! Since opening our school in 1986, Dr. Flury has taught thousands of Grand Prairie and East Arlington children, and has produced many black belts. Once graduating from high school, Dr. Flury ran the school while also attending college and then graduate school, ultimately earning a doctorate in personality psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Flury is a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists, a member of the Martial Arts Teacher’s Association, a member of the Martial Arts Industry Association, and she was named “Instructor of the Year” by the USA-Korean Karate Association for three years in a row, until the association decided to put a limit on how many times a single instructor could win the teaching award.
