The American Institute of Taekwondo is the premier martial arts center for children in Grand Prairie and East Arlington. Dr. Judy Flury opened our center in 1986, and has run it continuously since that time. What sets the American Institute of Taekwondo apart from the average karate school is our emphasis on childrens’ character education (through our Character for Kids program), academic achievement (through our requirement and rewards for good school grades), and our specialized knowledge in working with children. Dr. Flury is a personality psychologist, and has worked with children for over 22 years. We have over 200 children in our school, and every one of them is special to us – we encourage each child to be the best that they can be!

Our classes are customized for children. We combine traditional, disciplined Taekwondo and self-defense training with fun and exciting drills. This format gives children the best of both worlds – the focus, confidence, discipline, and respect that is provided by traditional training, and also a lot of fun! Through these classes, children stay motivated to keep setting new goals of higher and higher belt rank, and they enjoy coming to their classes and working hard to achieve their goals. They learn that hard work pays off, and they have great fun in the process!
