“I feel that I must tell you again how happy we have been with you and your school since Garret began over 2 years ago. You have showed him the key to courage, determination, strength, and self esteem. I am thrilled that you uphold the importance of schoolwork by asking to see the kids report cards, and the reading awards during the summer. You are a strong and positive role model for the children.”
~ Michelle Lee
“Dr. Flury - Austin loves being a gold belt. I am so glad we found you! His father and I want him to have confidence in himself. I believe your institute is giving him the confidence he needs.”
~ Sonja Meyers, mom of Austin Meyers.
“I could probably write a book about what Taekwondo has done for my boys, but that would likely take a long time, so I will try to keep it short and simple.
I was very proud of Dakota when he wrote his paper on the benefits of Taekwondo training for his black belt....I cried when I read it and it reinforced my feeling that signing him up was one of the best things I've ever done for him!!
When I first signed Dakota up for Taekwondo, his father and I were going through a divorce. He had so much anger inside of him and didn't have a positive way to release it, so he took his anger out on his younger brother and myself. After signing him up, I noticed immediate changes in him. He wasn't taking his anger out on us anymore....instead, he geared it towards his training.
Taekwondo has given him the encouragement to make goals and do everything he can to reach those goals, he isn't as shy as he once was, his grades have improved, he has learned patience, he has learned to stick up for himself without fighting when it comes to being bullied at school, he has learned that he CAN reach his goals if he works hard enough, but more importantly, he has learned skills that will be used throughout his entire lifetime.
He's learned to be more self-disciplined, he has learned to be more respectful, he has learned more about honesty, he's learned how to be a leader and how to be a role model for others younger than him, he's learned how to learn from others as well, he's much more aware of things going on around him, he's learned how to be more confident.
I love everything about the school. I love the training that my boys are getting, not only physically, but mentally as well. The program is exciting and fun, it's energetic, the kids learn about so many character traits. Not only are there fun and exciting things they do during class, but there's also the sleepovers and game nights, in which all of the kids have a great time! It's a second family to these kids.
Because Chase wasn't old enough to join your school at the time I signed Dakota up, I checked out other martial arts schools. NONE of them offered a program like yours. I'm glad that I waited until Chase was old enough to join your school.
Dr. Flury, I know I haven't thanked you enough and to be honest, I don't think I could! The things that my boys have gotten from your school.......well, it's simply priceless! I'm so glad that I signed Dakota up for that first week!
THANK YOU!!!”
~Kristen Perez, Mom of Dakota, Chase, and Taylor.
“Dr Flury, While I realize that you do not have the time to read all of your emails, I truly hope that this one reaches you. I will only take a moment of your time.
When my son first enrolled in your karate school I was a bit skeptical. I was afraid that he might get into fights at school or possibly even use karate to injure someone. But, with your careful guidance he has grown to love karate and he has become such a respectful young man. When he first started we lived just down the street from the school. In February we moved to Mansfield.
I still continue to make the drive to the school, because I have never seen a better teacher. You have truly been given a gift when it comes to the children and as time passes they become better people. I hope that my child is one of those children you talked about in this email that continue under your instruction for many years. I do not know how any of us parents could ever thank you enough for what you do.
But, thank you for what you do for these children. In the midst of all this chaos this world has created you have managed to instruct these children, but also offer guidance to making them well rounded individuals. Although, I cannot express my gratitude enough. I would just like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
~Sincerely, Carol Ames
“I just don't know how to say I am so glad I chose your school for karate. I have heard bad things about karate schools, and have learned that yours is nothing to what I have heard about other schools. You are more than a teacher to Melissa you have been a person she looks up to, and that is very important to me, because I know that Melissa's mind is full of accomplishments and goals, and not out there trying to be a big kid!
Once again thanks for all your support, time, care, and love you have put into your kids. I want to say your kids, because you have spent most of your life teaching our kids something positive that also helps us, the parents, in an area some of us have trouble teaching, which is self- esteem, and confidence.
Melissa is proof, because she was the shy, quiet, to herself kind of person, and now she speaks for herself, and she knows how she does not have to please anybody, but herself. I owe it all to you Dr. Flury, her mentor, her guiding light.”
~ Ivonne Perez, librarian, Grand Prairie mom of Melissa Perez
“I just keep going over and over in my mind Malik's reaction after he received his brown belt. I was getting him a soda from the machine when he came around the corner. As soon as he saw me he ran and jumped into my arms! Dr. Flury, Malik has done very well in school and has much to be proud of but I can tell you I've never seen such a sense of accomplishment on my 8- year old's face as I did at that moment!! Thank you Dr. Flury!!!”
~ Carmen Dilonga, mom of Malik Dilonga
“I cannot tell you enough how grateful I have been for you and your karate school. Here in the schools I am trying to follow your example of instilling not only skills (your martial arts, me academics) but also ethics and character. Your school has been a good home away form home for Frank. I know many of his successes and his confidence have come from the martial arts training you provided. I hope he never loses those skills and that he passes them on someday to his children. We love you and you will be forever etched in our hearts.”
~ Gail Chou, English teacher, mom of Frank Chou.
“I want to thank you for being so wonderful to A.J. and Lee. Your teaching style and constant praise towards the children has been so good for the boys. They leave your school with much more than just knowledge of the martial arts. They will miss you lots, but we take with us many wonderful memories of you and your school. Your friends, The Montgomerey's.”
~ Susan and James Montgomery, parents of A.J. and Lee Montgomery.
“Hi Dr. Flury- I have really been missing karate lately. Now that I have been out of it for a while I now see how much it really helped me physically and to emotionally release after a long day of work. I want you to know what a positive difference you and your philosophy throughout karate has made in my life and I know you are making a world of difference in the lives of the kids. As a teacher I am realizing that some kids today have never been taught how to problem solve. When they get mad they hit, punch or say unkind things. Some of tem have a hard time thinking for themselves and taking responsibility for their actions. I just want to say thank you for taking the time and energy to motivate me and to help me become a better person. Your work is greatly appreciated.”
~ Keri Brown, Elementary school teacher
“Thank you so much for everything you have done for our family. Thomas is a great kid with good values, manners, and respect. You have made an impact in his development. I am so very grateful. May God bless you every day. Keep up with your wonderful work with all your kids. I know you bond with them all.”
~ LeAnne Cason, mom of Thomas and Rae Dawn
“Dear Dr. Flury, I am glad to be in karate. I like the way you teach me. You must know A LOT of karate. I'm glad you don't yell to me. I'm glad you make the classes fun. Sincerely, Brendan DeLane”
~ Note from 10-year old student
“Dear Dr. Flury, You personally inspire me to do things I want to do. Thank you so much for giving me these opporitunities. I hope you help and inspire others like you do me. Sincerely, Conner.”
~ Note from 13-year old student
“You will never know how much our children enjoyed your classes! We could really see a difference in them after taking Tae Kwon Do from you! You have been great! Thanks for all your hard work, dedication, and encouragement! May God continue to bless you and all your students!”
~ Dennis and Gail Jinks, parents of Dennis, Devin, and Dawn Jinks
"I feel that karate has added so much to our lives. The reason we started was that my oldest son was having behavior problems in school. I thought this would be something that would help him with self-discipline. I was right about that. By the end of the school year, about 6 months after he had been at karate, his teacher wrote me a note. She said that he had made such great progress in both learning and his discipline.
I don't think this would have happened without the help of Dr. Flury. Since that change and my youngest has been old enough, the whole family has now joined. We have two black belts, one 1st degree brown belt, and one orange belt. Thank you, Dr. Flury, for being such a great influence on our family."
~Corine Hartgrave, Grand Prairie
"I was trying to get Emilio interested in something. He not very good at team sports, and it was hard to get him interested in any kind of activity for very long. We put him in a lot of different things, because he would do one for a little while, then would want to quit. Boy, what a difference it was when we found karate!
Emilio has really taken to it -- he loves to earn his different belts, and he doesn’t feel like he has to compete with anyone. He has been in Dr. Flury’s for two years now, and he has told everyone that he is going to be a black belt! Thanks, Dr. Flury, for all of your support of Emilio.”
