“My son started at Karate Kidz in Grand Prairie when he was 6 years old. He stayed all the way through until he joined the junior ROTC after starting high school. He got up to 3rd Senior Black Belt. His martial art training has obviously had a huge effect on his life. He is well-disciplined, goal-oriented, and he gained a lot of leadership skills from being a black belt. Our daughter is 4 years old and has just started in the class with Dr. Flury. We may have another future black belt in our family!”

“Cody has always been a challenge for me to deal with, since he can be very hyper and I have four other kids all under the age of 10. I had always heard about how karate teaches discipline. I was afraid it might make him into a bully, though. So I never did put him in karate until his school counselor recommended it. It has been great for our whole family. Cody thinks before he does something now, and the structured atmosphere of Dr. Flury's classes have really helped him control his actions better outside of karate too. It's a dream come true for us!”
- Angela Fellows, mother of 9-year old Orange belt Cody
“Pierce received two awards at school - the Elmer award for self-confidence, and an award for outstanding citizenship. We were so excited and impressed with this progress. He started the year very shy, unsure, and quiet. His teacher now tells me he is confident, participates in discussions, and works extremely hard. I know that Dr. Flury has had a major impact on him, as he always wants to make sure that she knows of his accomplishments and hard work.”
-Christine Taylor, mother of 6-year old Pierce and 4-year old Preston
“The coaches always say that by Chicago knowing karate, that it has helped him do things that other kids can’t or have to train really hard to do. For example, his reflexes are quick and he stretches out really long. He plays first base and outfield, so these things really help. Also, when they run laps, he’s the only one that breathes right and doesn’t get tired. They also notice the respect that he shows to the players and the coaches. I must thank you for all of this. Tae Kwon Do has made him a better baseball player.”

“I like and have enjoyed having my son Neal in Karate Kidz because I've seen him involved into a more confident, responsible and helpful person in the 5 years he's been attending the school. Whats more important is when he tells us how great he feels when he is given the responsibility of being able to help out with the lower rank students. Neal has learned so much more then just self defense while attending Karate Kidz and that has helped in bringing out the best that I know he has within himself.”

“Jennifer really needed some help to get her self-esteem up and get out of such extreme shyness that she had. I felt so bad that I couldn’t help her! Nothing I did seemed to work. Your classes have done so much for her! It’s such a joy to see her making friends in school now, and speaking up for herself. I’m almost crying as I write you this note - you don’t know what a big thing this is for both of us.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
- Emily Cox, Grand Prairie
“I’m embarrassed to admit it, but after Nathan did his free trial at Dr. Flury’s karate school, I almost tried to talk him out of signing up. I really didn’t’ want another activity to have to run to every week. But he was so insistent! This is one time I’m glad he didn’t listen to me. His confidence is up, he does his chores with fewer reminders, and he’s always talking about wanting to make the leadership team at karate some day. This one program has done so much for him!”

“I like how the kids are always working on a goal of getting their next belt or stripe. I think that learning to set goals and work hard for them is really important to start at a young age.
Matthew gets that message by constantly working for his next belt at Dr. Flury’s.”

“I was having a lot of problems with Alex when he was in the 3rd grade. Notes from the teacher, counselor, and principal about his lack of focus, constant talking, and trying to get attention came home all the time. The weekend was the only time we had a break from negative feedback about my son. It was depressing us both. When the counselor suggested Dr. Flury’s karate program, I thought she was crazy! I thought - not only will I have a hyper kid on my hands, but a bully too if I put him in karate.
The counselor insisted it would be good for Alex, though, and told me quite a few stories about kids she had referred to Dr. Flury’s program that became focused, drastically increased their self-esteem, and raised their grades. I finally relented and tried Alex in the program. Good Lord - what an amazing difference! Within about three weeks, he was more focused at school, calmer at home and had 4 straight 100’s on his spelling tests. He’s now in the 5th grade, a brown belt, and on the honor roll”

“Chris always liked team sports, but was never that great at them. . He used to get down on himself for not scoring goals in soccer, not getting hits in baseball, and so on. He loved being with his friends, but he always thought he wasn’t a help to the team. I had heard before that martial arts is good for balance, coordination, speed, and helps kids be good at other sports.
We started Chris in Dr. Flury’s Karate Kids program after we went to the Kung Fu Panda movie, and Chris is in heaven! He doesn’t feel like he has to prove himself or compete with anyone. His soccer coach has mentioned that he’s seen a difference in Chris’s speed and kicking power too. Chris is gaining so much confidence - I love it!”
